The Dental Medicine is a service of general dentistry where all types of conventional dental care is provided, as well as the various
specialties of modern dentistry.
The treatments are carried out by specialized practitioners or specialist courses as
well as students of 4th and 5th year under the supervision of assistant
(s) academics.
The various sub-disciplines of dentistry are closely related. A patient will usually require treatment in several areas of dentistry.
• Periodontology
Operative dentistry includes all acts of teeth care for adults and children. To do so, therapeutic art techniques at our disposal: Diagnostic caries electroluminescence, minimum treatment by air abrasion or sono abrasion under microscope ... care.
Paedodontics
Paedodontics includes all operative care that we can give children the chair or under general anesthesia.
endodontics
Endodontic ("root
canal") is to remove the inflamed or infected pulp
of the affected tooth, disinfect root canals and the
seal. The most sophisticated
techniques are also present in
our service: electronic detection of root length, root mechanized preparation, microscope and ultrasonic
technology channels.
Periodontics
Periodontics very frequent treats gum disease, ligament and bone supporting the
teeth. The treatment consists of a first-time instructions brushing, scaling
and possibly a planing (cleaning below the gum line). In case of persistent
inflammatory lesions, surgical phase could possibly be programmed by the
periodontist. Periodontics also includes surgical methods for aesthetic purposes,
methods of tissue and bone regeneration or elongation of the tooth crown.
The dental
prosthesis
Dentures better known under the name of "denture" is a device
designed to replace one or more or simply to reconstruct a highly decayed tooth
missing teeth. Next it may or may not be set up and removed by the patient, the
dental prosthesis is described as removable or non-removable.
• The removable prosthesis
A denture replaces all teeth of an arcade A removable partial denture is made of a resin or

• The immovable or fixed prosthesis
The fixed prosthesis on the achievement of bridges and crowns. Crowns are used

Activities
Care by trainees
As part of its mission education within the network of the Université Libre de
Bruxelles (ULB), the majority of patients are treated by the trainees. In case
of emergency treatment, once relieved the patient, it will be suggested to
complete its processing within the service, or if the patient is already
followed in his dentist, If applicable, a plan more elaborate treatment,
involving other specialties, such as endodontics for example, will be offered
to the patient.
Care by practitioners in specialized courses
Patients referred by outside dentists and complex clinical case consultation
interns are treated by qualified practitioners already skilled or specialized
courses. A specific management discipline is provided on certain days. Care by
dentists service. The permanent members of the service following practitioners
devote one or more time slots to personalized care for patients on special
request.
